Emma and Paul’s Wedding, It was hot, they got hitched and had a ton of fun on a farm!

I checked the forecast obsessively the week before Emma and Pauls wedding and you know what it said? RAIN RAIN RAIN THUNDER AND LIGHTNING! It appeared the end of the world was near! And you know what?  I felt four drops while Emma was on her way down the aisle / field.  Stupid weather people.

So, their amazingly beautiful wedding wasn’t postponed and it was gorgeous. It was like 90 degrees in the shade though. I’ve never sweated through clothing as bad as that day, but it was so worth it. Emma and Paul’s wedding was a blast and I want to thank them for inviting me to come and shoot their wedding. It was so much fun we’re going to do it all again next year! Just kidding. But you can relive the day below.

I want to give a big huge thank you to Adrian Sauers for helping me out.  Adrian is a man of many talents and I can’t say enough great things about him. He’s first and foremost an outstanding artist and you should check out his work here. He also captured some amazing images too, like the grumpy little boy who didn’t want his photo taken.

This next one was absolutely hilarious to watch as it unfolded. That’s Dave at the bottom in the last photo. Priceless. (By the way, the sign says “Raise your hand if you were scared of Dave.”)

It’s hard to feel like you’re working when you get to be in the photos. In addition to that, when have amazing bosses it makes work amazing!  Thank you Dave and Kristen!  Wedding photos to follow soon! (By the way, the sign says “We should be working. (IT)”.

And here are a few more for the road. Happy travels!

Just a few lovely ladies up for grabs. I’m sure one of them is single…

Sign of the times.  Never gets old until it’s old.

Inside jokes. I love em. One reason why these signs make so much sense for guests.

They should get a tatoo!

Industrial grit - day four

Old signs are great subjects. Just make sure you get the permission from your electrician.

Industrial grit - day two

Did I also mention I really like making photographs that are hard to tell what the subject is? I think they’re my favorite way to shoot artistic photographs. Edward Weston is really well known for his photographs of vegetables, or most notably his pepper photograph which looks nothing like a pepper.

Industrial grit

For the next five days there will be one industrial black and white photograph each day. I’m a big fan of geometric elements, as well as a big fan of old run down industrial looking things. Starting today off with this one. all were shot in one room with in one hour. The following five days are the five best.

Death of a Pet… somewhere

Some kid in Fishtown is really sad. Let’s have a moment of silence.

New gear = don’t kill yourself fun!

I just picked up some new gear and like any guy I had to play with it, test it out and see how I could use it. And of course it was late. Why would it be during the day? I work during the day. So late at night while I’m bored and geeked out with new stuff I had the brilliant idea to shoot some pictures on the steps. I about nearly killed myself, I fell down the steps and the self timer went off just in time to capture me in all my gangly glory about to hit bottom. No one was hurt, I didn’t break the camera or shoot my eye out. Thank God. The best part about all of this was that I set it up to look like I fell down the stairs. It was great fun! If you’re still confused, me falling down the steps is a hoax. So Mom, I’m OK.

Oh Happy Day!

Diggin’ through the archives I found these little gems from the summer. My friend Andrew and I did some wonderin’ in the woods. Maybe I can say this was doing a bit of compositional testing for weddings? Inspiration? I’m not sure. I just enjoy shooting for fun. If you’re with me and I see something I like, I’ll most likely ask you to be in the shot.  I miss shorts and warm weather. Come on summer!
